What is MOPS?
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. For over 35 years, MOPS has been creating authentic communities where moms gather together to experience encouragement, hope, support and spiritual growth — all to help them impact their families, communities and world.
MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young children. More than 4,050 MOPS groups gather in churches throughout the United States and in 30 other countries to meet the needs of women each year. Sugar Land Methodist MOPS is one such group.

What happens at Sugar Land Methodist MOPS?
At each MOPS meeting, the morning starts with a delicious, warm breakfast followed by a period of fellowship among the mothers. Afterwards there is a prayer, devotion or testimonial, and a guest speaker or craft. At the end of each meeting, the mothers break into small groups for a chance to have more personal discussions.
While you are enjoying a morning with other adults, your children ages infant (6 months+) through Kindergarten are cared for in our MOPPETS program. MOPPETS are divided into age appropriate groups where they participate in a planned curriculum under the guidance of wonderful, loving teachers. The MOPPETS program allows your children to interact socially with other children while participating in games, stories, crafts, music, and physical play. Infants younger than 6 months can stay with you at the meeting.
When and where does Sugar Land Methodist MOPS meet?

Here is what some current and past members had to say about MOPS:
- “MOPS has been a great way of meeting women who are dealing with the same challenges that I am as a mother and wife. We share similar experiences and it has placed me with women that I can relate to with what I am going through. I have made many lifelong friends throughout the group. My children have made friends as well. My son loves MOPPETS more than his preschool. He looks forward to our meetings and asks on Fridays if it’s MOPS day. It has been a wonderful experience and I recommend any mother with young children in search of finding a group of women to have fun with to join Sugar Land Methodist MOPS!” – Theresa
- “MOPS has become my family’s favorite two days of the month. MOPS gives me the chance to have two days a month where I am ‘Ricci’ and not ‘Mommy.’ It has helped me salvage my personal identity beyond just being a stay-at-home mother to three preschoolers. The MOPPETS program has helped my children overcome separation anxiety and build socialization skills. The MOPPETS teachers are so caring and patient!” – Ricci
- “I had just moved to Sugar Land and didn't know anybody. The ladies at MOPS welcomed me and even helped entertain myself and my kids when my husband promptly went out of town for a month. I cherish the friendships I've made and they have helped drag me through tough spots.” – Lori
- “I just like talking to other adults without being interrupted by my child.” – Alice
